Thomas Keen
I trained at the London College of Furniture (now London Metropolitan University) and moved to
Milan at the end of my course, in 1992.I spent four years in Milan, working with Maurizio Favetta,
Matteo Thun, Terri Pecora, Nick Bewick and finally with Isao Hosoe as a Senior Designer.
The time spent in Milan completed my education in Design. In 1995 I was offered a position as a
Product Designer at Fujitsu in Japan through Domus Academy and moved to Tokyo in 1996.
I was the first foreign Designer to join the Fujitsu in-house design team. I left Japan at the end of
1999, bound for San Francisco, California, where I joined Scott Yu at Gingko Design to work in
Product Design and Business Development. I finally returned to the UK in 2002, where I joined
Native Design.
In 2004 I founded Sabotage Design.
I have been fortunate enough to have experienced different cultures and environments, which
gave me the flexibility and the passion to accept any challenge the design work would present.
An English background, the power of Italian aesthetics, the complexity of Japanese culture, the
cutting edge Silicon Valley attitude, a great love for sailing & diving and finally my practice as a
Buddhist have all contributed to making Sabotage Design a company that is not afraid to explore,
challenge and evolve.
